Robert Anderson, Jr. serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Cyber Defense Labs, a full life-cycle information security service provider helping companies manage, detect and respond to today’s cyber risks.  As CEO, Anderson leads an exceptional team of experts dedicated to helping companies reduce business risk by improving their information security and cyber resilience posture. Anderson brings decades of strong executive leadership and knowledge in cybersecurity, counterintelligence, economic espionage, and critical incident response to guide Cyber Defense Labs as it continues to provide customized solutions to help companies protect and respond against today's advanced threats and adversaries.


Previously, Anderson served as a Principal at The Chertoff Group, collaborating with clients to tackle their most critical security issues. Earlier, he served as Managing Director for Navigant's Global Information Security practice, helping to rapidly grow the firm's investigative and incident response services offering.


Anderson is a former national security executive, serving more than 20 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Over the course of his career, Anderson served in several senior level positions, ultimately rising to become executive assistant director of the FBI's Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch overseeing all FBI criminal and cyber investigations worldwide, international operations, critical incident response, and victim assistance. While serving in the FBI, Anderson directed strategic initiatives and operations for several high-profile investigations including those involving Sony Pictures Entertainment, the Office of Personnel Management, the San Bernardino shooting, and Edward Snowden investigation, among others.  


Anderson has been retained as an expert witness for several ongoing litigations relating to some of our nation’s largest cyber breaches and  frequently provides insight and analysis on television and in the media including CBS’ 60 Minutes, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, BBC, PBS Frontline, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME Magazine, and more. In 2012, Anderson was awarded the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award by President Barack Obama, presented to government senior executives as the government’s highest award for leadership.
