Director, Cybersecurity Advisory Services

MICHAEL PERDUNN

Michael Perdunn is the Director of Cybersecurity Advisory Services for Cyber Defense Labs. He partners with clients and internal stakeholders to help navigate the challenges facing organizations in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity environment. Michael brings cybersecurity management expertise focusing on compliance,  incident response, and disaster recovery for state and publicly traded organizations.

Prior to Cyber Defense Labs, Michael was Director of Cybersecurity at Werner Enterprises where he oversaw the development and program maturity of the organization’s cybersecurity, IT compliance, disaster recovery, and privacy

programs. He led the revamp of IT governance structure and policies to align with NIST and created a crisis management plan that was ultimately evaluated for its effectiveness by an exercise facilitated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Prior to Warner, Michael served as the Manager of Security Risk and Governance for the Omaha Public Power District (OOPD) where he led the development of their cybersecurity program and provided guidance and technical expertise over their compliance program covering NERC CIP, NIST 800-53, CMMC, HIPAA and PCI. Michael managed a team of cybersecurity professionals that handled everything from SOC, to incident response, and compliance. He also coordinated over 200 Omaha Public Power District employees’ participation in GridEX which was facilitated by the Department of Energy. Previously to OPPD, Michael held project management positions with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and the University of Nebraska, Omaha. ​

Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree at Hastings College, and his Master’s at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. He is currently enrolled at Abraham Lincoln University pursuing his law degree. Michael also holds the following certifications: CISM, CRISC, and PMP. ​
